‘Ohana Day ~ Free Open House!
Hawaiian Mission Houses Historic Site and Archives (HMH) will host a free ‘Ohana Day on Saturday, Sept. 27, 2025, from 10:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. The event will celebrate the power of Native Hawaiian plants with family-friendly activities, cultural demonstrations, local vendors and more!
Highlights include:
- LIVE MUSIC from 11:30AM-12:30PM with Jason Laeha
- ‘Ohe Kapala carving with Nalu Andrade of Na Maka Kahiko
- Explore traditional Hawaiian weaving with Ulana Me Ka Lokomaika’i
- Enjoy a ku’i demonstration with Daniel Anthony of Ma’ai
- Have fun at the dress-up selfie station
- Play 19th-century Hawaiian and western games with your keiki
- FREE SELF-GUIDED TOURS: open house, this day only, to the Ka Hale Pa‘i (The Printing House) – which contains a replica of a printing press used by Hawaiians and missionaries to produce the first printed materials in Hawaiian, and Ka Hale Lā‘au (The Frame House) – the oldest Western-style house in Hawai‘i, and Ka Hale Kamalani (The Chamberlain House) – a western house which serves as the main exhibition hall for the museum.
