Interested in learning about Hawaiian history? Like sharing what you know with visitors and students? Becoming a volunteer docent is the opportunity for you!

Docents will receive training in how to handle tour groups, interpretive techniques and principles, as well as taking a deep dive into the history and archival resources of a critical period of change in Hawaiian history.

Training will consist of 3 Saturdays with our Director of Education, Mike Smola, from 9am to 3pm as well as shadowing tours with experienced docents.

Our next training session is taking place February 14, 21 & 28, 2026.

Note: If you can make 2 of 3 sessions, a makeup date may be available on a case by case basis.
