James Grant Benton’s Twelf Nite O Wateva! has been an enduring community favorite. Benton wrote the play to make Shakespeare's more appealing and approachable for the local community—and just to be funny. It was first produced by Kumu Kahua in 1974. The play retains Shakespeare’s trademarks of mistaken identities and shenanigans but uses pidgin for local Hawai‘i audiences.

$25/person. $20/students and seniors 65+.
Renvisioned for 2017, the play is directed by William Ha‘o who directed last summer’s Two Gentlemen of Verona. Will Ha‘o has an extensive resume in theatre and performance. Costumes are designed and constructed by Rose Wolfe, and Henry “Bulldog” Cardenas will do the sound. The casting announcement called for fluency in pidgin, resulting in the following cast:

We ask that you kindly stow your coolers before the performance—
they are not allowed in the seating area for everyone’s safety and comfort.
There will be parking available at Kawaiaha'o Plaza located on Kawaiaha'o Street between Mission Lane and South Street from 5:00 - 9:00 p.m.

REFUND POLICY All tickets purchased for events at Hawaiian Mission Houses Historic Site and Archives events are non-refundable. For outdoor events, the event may be held during a light rain; however, heavy rain or lightning may force us to hold up the performance for up to one half hour before canceling. If an event is canceled, we will make every effort to reschedule the event. If we are unable to reschedule the event or you are unable to attend a rescheduled event, reservations for a canceled event may be issued a “rain check” credit that can be used for any subsequent event during the present or next calendar year.
